- How do I earn RecycleBank Points?
- Your RecycleBank container will be weighed each week upon pick-up. The weight will then be translated to RecycleBank Points. The more you recycle the more your household can earn. In a few select communities, households earn rewards based on their equal share of the total amount that their entire community recycles. The average Lincoln household earns about 220 RecycleBank Points each month.
- How many points can I earn each month for recycling?
- The more you recycle, the more you earn. You can earn up to 420 RecycleBank Rewards Points a month for recycling or up to a total of 5,400 RB points per year from Recycling.
NOTE: This monthly limit is for curbside recycling. You'll also be able to earn additional points for recycling e-waste, participating in surveys or other "bonus" offerings that will come up from time to time.
- How many pounds must I recycle in order to earn points?
- For every 1 pound recycled a participant will earn 2.77 RecycleBank Points.
- How do I get my rewards?
- Once you have activated your RecycleBank account you can view and order your rewards on the RecycleBank website. With 3-5 days RecycleBank will mail you your reward(s).
If you haven't yet activated your account you can click Activate My Account to get started redeeming your Points. You can also call 1-888-727-2978 and a customer care specialist will be happy to assist you. (Note: It may take up to 10 business days after you receive your recycling cart for RecycleBank to have all of the necessary information to verify your activation.)
- What should I do if I do not receive my mailed rewards within the 10-15 day timeframe?
- Call RecycleBank at 1-888-727-2978.
- I logged into my account and I noticed lots of changes including my account balance. What happened?
- If you have been a RecycleBank participant for some time and have noticed changes in your account and with the program including dollar amounts of rewards changed to point values, visit our Rewards Program Changes page for more information on the exciting enhancements to the program.
- How much can I expect to earn each much using my RecycleBank Points?
- Rewards vary in value from reward to reward. Generally for every 50 Points redeemed you can earn a $5 discount. RecycleLink recyclers on average recycle 80 pounds each month earning about 220 Points and have been able to enjoy between $15 and $40 in rewards and discounts each month. The best thing is you get to choose how to use your rewards and when to use them.
- What should I do if I have trouble accessing my account page online?

- How many businesses are participating in the RecycleBank program?
- There are currently hundreds of businesses to participate in the program with at least 100 reward offerings available to you within your area at any given time. For examples of the kinds of rewards in the program, please visit our Rewards page. Please contact us with any suggestions by calling us at 1-888-727-2978.
- Will the rewards program change? Will the rewards change?
- Yes. The RecycleBank Rewards program will change as we determine new and exciting reward options for you to take advantage of. Please check RecycleBank.com often for new reward opportunities. With rewards, RecycleBank is constantly adding new businesses to better serve you and rewards are subject to change. Partners can also decide to discontinue their rewards or have limited time offers.
- Will my RecycleBank points expire?
- Your RecycleBank points will accrue month-to-month and year-to-year for as long as you remain in the RecycleBank program. RecycleBank points expire only if there is no activity in a member’s account for over 6 months.
- Do RecycleBank rewards expire?
- Some rewards have expiration dates. Some rewards are offered on a limited time basis. This information can be found online (from your account page) or by calling Customer Care.
- What if I did not receive my credit?
- You can report any missed credit by contacting us from within your online account page, or you can call us at 1-888-727-2978. We are available Monday through Friday from 8AM until 7:45 PM to answer questions and offer assistance.
- What if I have more recycling than fits in my container?
- You can place your additional recyclables in a brown paper bag next to your cart. If you continue to have more recyclables than your cart will fit, call 466-0412 to request a second cart.
- What are some examples of what I can recycle?
- RecycleLink accepts items like:
Newspaper, Magazines, Phone books, Junk mail, Paper Grocery bags, Cereal boxes, Cardboard boxes, Plastic containers numbered 1-5, Aluminum cans and bottles, Steel/tin cans. Remember there is no need to sort. Toss everything into the provided 65 gallon cart. On top of the cart is a sticker that will help you remember what is acceptable. - I choose and pay for my waste hauling and recycling service in my community. Who are RecycleBank's partners for subscription hauling?
- If you live in the following communities, you can contact these haulers for the RecycleBank service:
- What happens if I put items in my container that are not recyclable?
- Our operators will see the "unacceptable" items and remove them from the cart. Those items will be placed next to the cart and sometimes will leave a message asking not to include those items again.
- The best way would be to contact your local municipality about the RecycleBank program. Your interest will help facilitate the expansion of the RecycleBank program into your community.
- How often will my recycleables be picked up?
- RecycleLink will service your recycling cart once a week.

- Are there any costs to participate?
- In general there is no cost to participate for local businesses in the basic RecycleBank rewards program. RecycleBank generates revenue by helping cities avoid landfill disposal fees.
- What type of advertising will my business receive?
- Your business will be advertised on the RecycleBank website.
- What are the reward denominations? Is there flexibility?
- The RecycleBank program has standard reward denominations from which to choose. In addition, we can also customize rewards for your business. Please let us know what is best for your business.
- What is my business responsible for?
- Just greet the customers, honor the rewards and help spread the word about the RecycleBank program.
